"Chunking and checking" are terms educators at Parowan and Fiddlers Elementary schools became familiar with after spending half a day in professional development with Maria Nielsen from Solution Tree.
Educators went back to school for a day before students join them Wednesday. Some were instructed by administrators and education specialists others by guests like Nielsen and motivational speaker Tim Clue.
Throughout the district the professional development day was used to refine best practices with a focus on learning for all students.
"Success is based on have they learned it, not have I taught it," Nielsen said.
