The Title I, Part A program provides financial assistance to seven Iron District elementary schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all students have equitable opportunities to meet challenging state academic standards. Funds are used to provide supplemental educational services and resources to meet the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged students. Each of our Title I schools operate a “schoolwide Title I program” where Title I funds, along with other Federal, State, and local funds, are used to enhance the instructional program for the whole school. These schools must use evidence-based instructional strategies and implement parental involvement activities in order to qualify for these funds.

The goals of the Title I program are to:

1. Assist students in achieving academic success

2. Increase student performance in high poverty schools through continuous school-wide improvement

3. Provide high-quality family and parent engagement opportunities to assist parents in helping their students succeed

Title I is a federal education program under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965, reauthorized as No Child Left Behind (NCLB) in 2001. Title I, Part A, provides Utah with federal funds each year to help higher poverty schools strengthen educational services for disadvantaged students.
