The Board of Education of the Iron County School District voted to appoint Helaman Haynie to fill the vacant seat in District 2. In a special meeting, the Board interviewed the three applicants who submitted their interest by the deadline. Haynie, Jennifer Sullivan and Vickie Hicks were asked 12 questions each by current board members.
The board then took a short recess and went through the process of reaching a majority vote for Haynie. Board members agreed that each of the three candidates would be acceptable to fill the open seat. After the 4-2 vote, Haynie was officially sworn in as a board member.
