As part of the America 250 celebration, Iron County School District Foundation sponsored the "What America Means to Me," essay contest for students in three categories — 5th grade; middle school (6-8), and high school (9-12). Students were encouraged to share their thoughts on what makes living in America so fantastic.

Students were invited to read their winning essays during "A Celebration of Our Nation's Birth" concert on October 27.
