Members of the Board of Education posed questions and expressed their thoughts on a American Principles Academy charter school application which asks for the district to act as the authorizer.
When asked what liabilities the district may face as a charter school authorizer, Legal Advisor Scott Garrett said a good policy and following that policy is key. There is the potential for liability no matter what you do, he added, but if the board establishes good parameters from the start and manages it correctly, that liability is reduced.
