How to Apply

Thank you for considering Iron County School District in your search for employment. Below are the instructions to walk you through the application process. The application process will define each of the district’s three hirable categories and the documentation that you will need to submit for each.

Licensed Position

A position that REQUIRES a certified license such as Administrator, Classroom Teacher, Media Specialist, Counselor, Coach, Speech Therapist, School Psychologist, Learning/Curriculum Specialist, School Nurse, etc. These positions typically require specific licensure or documentation of Highly-Qualified status under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002.

To complete the application process for a teaching, administrative, or counseling position in Iron County School District you will need to complete the following procedures:

  1. You can apply through the Iron County School District Online Applicant Portal. You must create an account, view all open job postings, and submit applications through the portal. Once an account is created with a resume and profile, multiple applications can be submitted using a single profile.

  2. Provide a copy of your valid Utah Teaching License (or indicate date you will receive it).

  3. Provide a copy of your PRAXIS Test results.

  4. Provide a copy of transcript of credits from the university(ies) attended. Official transcripts will be requested if applicant is hired.

  5. Submit your college/university Education Credential/Placement File. (Encouraged, but optional)

  6. Submit a current resume’, if not already included in your Education Credential/Placement File.

  7. Submit additional letters of recommendation. (Encouraged, but optional)

  8. Due to the number of applications on file, we are unable to interview each applicant for every position that comes open. If you hear of a specific position in which you are interested, please notify us to make sure that your application is activated and considered for the opening.

Note:

All applications are kept on file for two years. After that time has lapsed, the applications are then destroyed. If at any time an applicant would like to update a teaching file, it is the responsibility of the applicant to contact the School District Office to do so.

Classified Position

A position that DOES NOT REQUIRE a certified license and is 30 hours or more a week such as Business Office, Secretary, Food Service, Maintenance, Technology, Paraprofessionals, etc. Some positions may require specific licensure or documentation of Highly-Qualified status under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002.

To complete the application process for a classified position in Iron County School District you will need to complete the following procedures:

  1. You can apply through the Iron County School District Online Applicant Portal. You must create an account, view all open job postings, and submit applications through the portal. Once an account is created with a resume and profile, multiple applications can be submitted using a single profile.

  2. If required, you must attach one of the following to your application:

    • a photocopy of your posted Associate’s Degree from an accredited university or,

    • a photocopy of your transcript from an accredited university documenting that you have either 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of credit or,

    • a photocopy of your PRAXIS ParaproTest results (a passing score is 460).

Note:

Due to the number of applications we receive for each opening, we are unable to interview each applicant for every position that comes open.

We do not keep classified applications on file.

We do not accept classified applications if there is not a current opening in the area the applicant is interested in applying for.

Classified At Will Position

A position that DOES NOT REQUIRE a certified license and is less than 30 hours a week such as Paraprofessionals, Custodial, Bus Drivers, etc. Some positions may require specific licensure. “At will” is defined as allowing either Employee or Employer to terminate the agreement at any time, for any reason permitted by law, with or without notice.

To complete the application process for a classified position in Iron County School District you will need to complete the following procedures:

  1. You can apply through the Iron County School District Online Applicant Portal. You must create an account, view all open job postings, and submit applications through the portal. Once an account is created with a resume and profile, multiple applications can be submitted using a single profile.

  2. If required, you must attach one of the following to your application:

    • a photocopy of your posted Associate’s Degree from an accredited university or,

    • a photocopy of your transcript from an accredited university documenting that you have either 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of credit or,

    • a photocopy of your PRAXIS ParaproTest results (a passing score is 460).

  3. Applicants must complete and provide a separate application for each desired position. We cannot make copies at the School District Office.

  4. Resumes’ and letters of recommendation are optional with classified applications.
