We (Iron County School District) extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the family of the driver involved in this morning’s tragic accident. The accident involved one of our school buses at the beginning of the morning route and is currently under active investigation by the Utah Highway Patrol. There were no students on the bus at the time of the collision, however we understand students on their way to school may have passed the accident. Situations like this can be upsetting for students, even if they were not directly involved. We want you to know counselors are available at all of our schools. Students who may be struggling with what they saw or heard are invited to speak with a counselor.

Parents/guardians, The day of the rivalry football game between the Cedar High School Reds and the Canyon View High School Falcons has arrived. Here are a few reminders to ensure it is a safe and enjoyable event. • Southern Utah University has a clear bag policy. Please see the attached policy. • CHS students with an activity card will receive free admission to the game. All other students and spectators will need to pay an entrance fee unless they hold a UHSAA annual or silver pass or are an employee of the district (passes or employee badge must be shown). Tickets can be purchased in advance at GoFan. Cash will only be accepted at the Southwest Gate. • Elementary students should be accompanied by an adult. • Parking is available in designated free lots, including lots 2, 10, 11, 12, and 14. • Spectators will not be allowed to bring any athletic equipment into the stadium including balls, frisbees, skateboards, scooters, etc. • Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. The game is being held in the SUU Eccles Coliseum. • Spectators are not allowed on the field after the game. We are looking forward to a great game as two of our local teams compete for the Pickaxe trophy.

Anyone interested in being a part of the swim team this upcoming season...there will be a mandatory parent/student meeting at 5 pm in the lecture hall on October 5th.

Hello Everyone, we are excited for the upcoming Cedar vs Canyon View Football game. As a reminder to both sides, we are guests at SUU and truly appreciate their hospitality and the opportunity for our community to come together on their campus for this game and hope to continue to do so for the years to come. Some information that we need to make everyone aware of prior to the game to help it go smooth. Tickets will be available online through GoFan, there will be links sent out to purchase those tickets in advance. Purchasing the tickets in advance will help get everyone into the stadium as quickly as possible. The Gates will open at 6 pm, and not prior to that. You will be able to purchase tickets at the site through GoFan digitally by QR Codes that will be posted at the gates. We will only be accepting cash at the SouthWest Gate, again the southwest gate will be the only entrance where cash is accepted so plan accordingly, this will be a slower process than the digital ticketing so be patient if you have to pay with cash. https://gofan.co/event/6917527?schoolId=UT7044 2. There will be security checks at each gate with metal detectors so please be aware and prepared to go through security. With that being said 3. SUU enforces a clear bag policy, so only clear bags will be allowed in the stadium, please leave bags home or in your car if they are NOT clear. Refer to the infographic attached for what items are allowed and what is not. 4. Conceal Carry will be by permit only, so plan to show your permit if needed going through security. 5. As guests at SUU we ask that any children under high school age, be accompanied by an adult and stay with them throughout the game. We ask that you please refrain from bringing any footballs, frisbees and such to the game as they will be turned away at the gates as well. 6. Following the game we ask that everyone remain off the field and have parents and fans meet their teams outside of the track area, Canyon View to the NorthEast side of the field, and Cedar on the South West side of the field. We are looking forward to a great game and hope that everyone in attendance has a positive experience.

Dear Parents and Guardians, We want to inform you that Cedar High will be administering the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) on Oct. 13 for any 10th & 11th grade students interested. Registration & Fees: To register please pay Mindy Taylor in the front office $18, no later than Friday, Sept. 25. Why Students Take the PSAT/NMSQT Official Scholarship Qualifying: For 11th-grade students (juniors), this test serves as the entry point into the National Merit Scholarship Program. SAT Preparation: The exam mirrors the structure and content of the digital SAT, giving students excellent practice and a benchmark score. In preparation for the Oct. 2 rivalry football game between the Cedar High School Reds and the Canyon View High School Falcons, we wanted to share a few instructions to ensure a safe and enjoyable event.

First, we want to recognize our partnership with Utah Summer Games and Southern Utah University. The use of the SUU Eccles Coliseum allows us to welcome about 11,000 spectators to the popular Coal Creek Classic. With that invite comes required security regulations not present at typical high school games.

Please be aware of and adhere to SUU’s clear bag policy. An outline of that policy with what is allowed in the stadium is attached. Fans not adhering to that policy will be asked to return the non-compliant bag to their vehicle before admission is allowed. Additionally, SUU is strongly discouraging any use of confetti and glitter.

As we get closer to the game, schools will communicate with students and parents more information about pre-game ticket purchases, tailgating activities, parking and more.

We are looking forward to a great game as two of our local teams compete for the Pickaxe trophy.

As we move past the midpoint of the first quarter, we want to share a quick reminder regarding attendance to help keep our students on track for a successful school year. Cedar High School and the Iron County School District operate under district-wide attendance guidelines and compulsory attendance rules that align with Utah state laws. Please keep the following details in mind. Excusing Absences: Any absence that needs to be excused must be submitted within 5 school days of the absence. Cedar City High School students will be participating in a Student Survey to help us improve our counseling and student support services. We are planning to administer the survey on September 21 during XLT. The survey consists of 21 questions, is completely anonymous, and takes approximately 5–10 minutes to complete.
