The Cedar City Arts Council and Iron County Heritage Livestock Council are hosting their annual K-12 Heritage Art Competition. There are two categories of Art for competition submission. 2D / 3D Visual Art Mediums and Photography. Cash awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place juried submissions in grade levels: Elementary, Middle School, and High School.
Participants are encouraged to theme their artwork towards their own personal heritage. Artwork can be related to students who may have significant family heritage to the Iron County area or it can be related to their personal heritage if the participant is not from the area, but they have a knowledge of their own family history wherever they are from.
Participants in the past have created: Graphite portrait drawings of their grandparents. paintings of their family's favorite outdoor location to visit here in Southern Utah, colored pencil drawings of the foreign country that their family genealogy is rooted in, drawings and paintings of the family cabin in Cedar Mountain, art celebrating a family member's war veteran participation, plants or animals found here in Southern Utah, photographs of the family's local farm and its livestock, etc. The goal is to recognize and celebrate artistictly not only the rich history and livelihood of Iron County, but also the diverse heritage of our fellow community members.
All submissions must be delivered by October 15th, or they will not be considered for judging and award.
