Our Drug Dog Assembly during Red Ribbon Week is always a huge hit! Students loved learning how police dogs are trained and seeing them in action as they help officers with important tasks. This year, we even had the privilege of meeting a dog from Southern Utah who is specially trained to detect bombs!
Students had the chance to ask great questions — and learned some fascinating facts, like how these incredible dogs can sniff out drugs underground and are so well-trained that they only take bathroom breaks when commanded by their handler!
The assembly also served as an important reminder for students about making good choices now, so they’ll always be ready and confident to say “No” to drugs as they grow older.

Our First IRON Assembly Was a Hit!
Our first IRON Assembly is officially in the books, and what a great start it was! Each month, students will spend a few minutes together in a short assembly focused on one of our four key IRON traits — Integrity, Respect, Ownership, and Now!
During these assemblies, our amazing Student Council shares short videos highlighting the monthly focus area and encouraging all students to do their best in showing that trait throughout the school day.
Students can also earn punches on their IRON Cards by demonstrating these positive behaviors. Once their card is full, they can turn it in for a chance to have their name drawn for exciting prizes — including class rewards or even lunch with the principal!

Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students at Iron Springs Elementary has had the pleasure of having students from SUU come and teach Junior Achievement over the last few months.
Junior Achievement helps students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real-world "business of life" - including lessons in financial literacy, community, and entrepreneurship. It has been a fun experience for all the student and they really enjoyed the surprise visit from Thor

Iron Springs Elementary students had the opportunity to enter to win the chance to experience being the "Principal for the Day" at our Fall Carnival. Winners spent some time with our Principal, Mr. Grimm. They learned a little bit about what he does everyday. They had their own name badge, and radio and were able visit different classrooms and areas of the school. One of the highlights was being able to choose a book to take back to the classroom to add to their teachers library and one to take home for themselves! Such a fun day!!

This year we received funding that has given us the opportunity to enhance our leveled library (commonly know by parents and students as baggy books). It has provided books that more accurately help our students practice the skills they are learning. With this we have books that are no longer needed and we are giving them to our students to take home and enjoy indefinitely. We wanted to make you aware that your student(s) will be bringing these books home over the course of the next couple of weeks.
