Superintendent’s Message Fall 2018 As many of you are aware, the Board has passed a Bond Resolution and the voters will vote regarding passage of the bond on November 6th. Our information meetings have gone well and we have received some critical feedback that will allow us to move forward in a very purposeful way as we meet the needs of our students and educators. We also have begun the Strategic Planning process to better prepare and be purposeful in the academic, behavior and social services that we provide within our facilities. These are not two separate or stand-alone initiatives. Through the bond proposal we are seeking to provide for greater safety and security for our students, educators, and community as well as manage growth and aging facilities… all the while maintaining a welcoming environment for all who enter our buildings and facilities. The Strategic Planning process is allowing us to refine our focus regarding student services by identifying standards of quality that reflect and support our current mission, vision, and shared commitments. The Strategic Planning Committee consists of teachers, administrators, school psychologists, counselors, parents, students, community leaders, law enforcement, social services, and SUU and business partners. The following four standards of quality have been identified by the committee:

  • Support a Culture of Collaboration and Learning for ALL
  • Establish a sense of well-being for ALL through Social Emotional Learning
  • Provide a Future Ready Education
  • Strengthen Community Connections

The Strategic Planning Committee will create a Five-Year Strategic Action Plan, that will go to the School Board for approval in April. All of this is being done with the intent of empowering all within our school community to learn at high levels and experience a sense of well-being while doing so. This document will be short and concise and will serve as a reference for the district and each school as yearly goals are set, professional development is provided, and achievement toward our goals is measured. All of us play a critical role in educating the whole child and I am grateful for all that you do to meet the needs of Every child… Every day: Whatever it Takes. Shannon
