Parowan High School is pleased to announce Bret Jacobson as the new Assistant Principal starting in the 2020-2021 school year.

Below is a letter from him to the community.

Greetings Parowan High School, We are excited for this new chapter in our lives. Marci and I(Bret) have five children. Our oldest son Dallin just graduated from SUU with a Graphic Design degree, Whitney is working towards a Radiology Tech, Luke is on a service mission in St. George, Emily will be a senior, she is involved with Soccer and Drill, and Abby will be a freshman and also enjoys soccer and dance. I recently finished my 20th year in education. I’m an SUU graduate, and started my teaching career at Cedar High School Seminary in 1999 where I was an OPT teacher for a year. Upon graduation we moved to Blanding Utah, where we have lived for the past 20 years. I spent the first four years teaching at Whitehorse High School where I served as Physical Education Teacher, Library Media Teacher, and Athletic Director. I also had the opportunity to be Head Football coach for two years and JV Boys Basketball coach. In 2004, I took a position at San Juan High in Blanding, no more 40 minute commute. I was hired as the Library Media Teacher/Yearbook Advisor. After a year, I also accepted the Athletic Director duties and enjoyed working closely with student athletes and coaches for the next 4 years. For the past 10 years I have served in a district position as the Library Coordinator supporting 5 high schools, 6 elementary schools, and 1 middle school, which make up San Juan School District. I’m excited to get back into one building where I hope to build positive relationships with all stakeholders. When I have a spare moment I enjoy family activities, cycling, swimming, and playing pickleball. Additionally, I joined Team Ironman in 2019 when I completed my first full Ironman in Santa Rosa California.
